Ugandan football club’s captain killed in street attack

Ugandan football club SC Villa's captain, David Owori, was tragically killed in a street attack near his home in Kampala. The 27-year-old defender and midfielder was attacked by a group of suspected robbers as he approached his residence on Tuesday night. They struck him with paving stones before taking his belongings and fleeing the scene.

Owori, also known as "Colgate", was rushed to a medical facility and later transferred to a private hospital in Kampala, where he succumbed to his injuries. SC Villa expressed their grief, stating that the club had lost more than just a player – they had lost a leader, brother, and friend. The Uganda Cranes also mourned the loss of a player who carried the hopes of the nation.

The club's spokesperson described Owori as a leader and inspiration to a generation, while the Federation of Uganda Football Associations hailed him as a leader both on and off the pitch. As investigations are underway to identify those responsible, the nation is left shocked and demanding justice for this senseless loss.
