Samsung QS90H soundbar review: An all-in-one promise fulfilled

The Samsung QS90H soundbar, priced at $1,000, has made waves in the audio industry with its promise of a fully functional all-in-one speaker without the need for a separate subwoofer. In recent years, several other brands have attempted to fulfill this promise, but it was not until 2024 that Samsung's QS90H soundbar stepped up to the plate. After testing the QS90H for several weeks, following months of usage with the predecessor, the QS700F, it becomes clear that this is no ordinary soundbar.

The design of the QS90H remains largely similar to its older sibling, the QS700F, with the most noticeable difference being an additional 3.5 inches in width. This extra space accommodates five new drivers, taking the total to thirteen, compared to the eight in the QS700F. The QS700F also featured a separate, compact wireless subwoofer, a compromise made due to insufficient power from the internal woofers. However, the QS90H has eliminated this necessity, thanks to its superior audio capabilities.

One prominent feature of the QS90H is the Convertible Fit functionality, allowing the soundbar to lay flat on a table or mount on a wall while still delivering optimal audio. This feature automatically adjusts the audio based on the soundbar's position, ensuring the best possible sound quality regardless of orientation. The soundbar boasts a 7.1.2-channel setup, with a dedicated subwoofer channel handled internally, resulting in a total of thirteen drivers, including up-firing, side-firing, and front wide-firing positions.

The Quad Bass subwoofer is an essential part of this design, comprising four woofers that push air in two directions for an impressive low-end tone.

The soundbar also includes wireless Dolby Atmos support, Q-Symphony audio expansion, SpaceFit Sound Pro room calibration, AI Dynamic Bass Control, Adaptive Sound, Active Voice Amplifier Pro dialogue boost, Sound Elevation audio enhancement, and Game Mode Pro for enhanced 3D sound during gaming. However, the effectiveness of these features relies on the compatibility of a compatible Samsung TV for Dolby Atmos and Q-Symphony.

Despite the absence of a standalone subwoofer, the QS90H delivers a surprisingly robust low-end tone that can shake the foundations of your living room.
