RJD dissolves organisational units after Bankipur loss amid calls to ‘get rid of sycophants’

RJD national working president Tejashwi Yadav has dissolved all organisational units in Bihar, effective immediately, following the party's "crushing defeat" in the Bankipur byelection. The decision was made after the traditional Muslim and Yadav vote banks turned their support to Jan Suraaj Party (JSP) founder Prashant Kishor. The JSP candidate secured 64,151 votes, defeating the RJD candidate Rekha Kumari by a margin of 19,324 votes.

Kumari finished third with just 14,273 votes, losing her security deposit. This shift in voter loyalty has led to a reevaluation of the RJD's organisational structure, with plans to reconstitute committees at district, block, and panchayat levels soon.
