68 kg of ganja seized from express train at Jolarpet railway station

The Government Railway Police (GRP) made a significant seizure of 68 kilograms of ganja after conducting a surprise check on an express train at Jolarpet railway station in Tirupattur on Thursday. As part of Operation Narcos, a special drive against the illegal transportation of narcotic substances and inflammable substances in trains, a team of GRP police officers was tasked with inspecting halted trains at the station. The express train, en route to Chennai, came to a halt on platform one.

Upon entering the train, the GRP team discovered two unattended tourist bags in the luggage carrier of a general compartment. Upon opening the bags, they found a substantial quantity of ganja. Initial investigation revealed that a group of three individuals had disembarked from the train after noticing the police team entering to search the coaches.

They hastily discarded the ganja consignment and fled the scene. To track down the gang, GRP Jolarpet also analyzed CCTV footage. A case has been filed, and a thorough investigation is underway.
