Police rescue abducted teenager, begin manhunt for kidnappers in Oyo

In a dramatic rescue, an abducted 17-year-old boy, Daneri Alhaji Yaro, was freed by police in Oyo State, Nigeria, on Thursday. The victim was seized by suspected kidnappers in Aladere Village, near the Government Reserve Forest. The Oyo State Police Command announced the rescue in a statement issued by their spokesperson, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka.

Daneri's father, Alhaji Yaro Babuga, alerted police on Wednesday morning, prompting an immediate response from the Divisional Police Officer. This led to a joint operation involving police personnel, Amotekun Corps, local vigilantes, and hunters. The statement revealed that the combined team conducted a thorough search of the surrounding areas, ultimately forcing the kidnappers to abandon Daneri and flee deeper into the Government Reserve Forest.

Police spokesperson Olayinka emphasized that the victim was rescued unharmed and has since been reunited with his family. The command remains committed to apprehending the fleeing suspects, intensifying intelligence-led operations in the forest and surrounding regions. Police Commissioner Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga praised the bravery, teamwork, and professionalism displayed by all security personnel involved in the operation, vowing to continue the fight against violent crime through collaboration and intelligence-driven policing.
