Nikita Bier has resigned as head of product at X, Elon Musk’s social media platform, after just over a year in the position. In a recent statement, Bier expressed his belief that it was time to step down and take on a more advisory role for the company. Previously serving as the product lead since July 2025, Bier oversaw the introduction of 30 new products while maintaining the platform's "integrity of the town square."

However, Bier also faced challenges during his tenure, as X encountered multiple controversies, including the Grok chatbot's inappropriate behavior and the generation of non-consensual explicit content, leading to legal issues for the platform. In his resignation letter, Bier emphasized that X remains a pivotal communication technology in history, but acknowledged that managing the app is a round-the-clock responsibility, and he now feels it is time for him to take a break and observe from a distance.
