New Hampshire Motor Speedway confirms return to the NASCAR Chase in 2027

The New Hampshire Motor Speedway (NHMS) has announced its return to the NASCAR Chase in 2027, hosting both the NASCAR Cup and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series during the September 25-26 race weekend. NHMS Executive Vice President and General Manager David McGrath expressed his delight at the return to the prestigious September date, stating that New England race fans demonstrated a strong presence during the last September event, with sold-out attendance.

He emphasized the importance of fall racing in New England, particularly for campers and drivers who enjoy attending races in the area during that season. NHMS joined the Cup schedule in 1993 and hosted two Cup races for two decades before shifting to summer events from 2004 to 2017. Since then, NHMS has experienced various dates, including July, August, and even June.

The previous year, NHMS briefly returned to the championship playoffs before being moved back to a summer date for 2026. However, NHMS is now reclaiming its traditional September date in 2027, where it will serve as the third race in the ten-race Chase for the championship in the Cup Series. The Truck Series will also be hosted as the Chase opener at NHMS.

The complete NASCAR Cup schedule for 2027 is expected to be released soon, as NHMS joins other tracks in announcing their race dates for the upcoming season. Iowa Speedway, which will host the race this weekend, announced its 2027 race date, securing the Fourth of July race weekend.
