More than 2,500 vessels coated with Nippon Paint Marine technology now registered on RightShip platform

Nippon Paint Marine, a marine coatings leader, has announced that more than 2,500 vessels using its hull coatings technologies are now registered on the RightShip platform, which evaluates the contributions of technology and innovation to foster a safer and more sustainable shipping industry. Vessels utilizing Nippon Paint Marine's hull coatings, such as its biocide-free AQUATERRAS, FASTAR, and A-LF Sea, are included in the database.

One example is an 81,000 DWT bulk carrier coated with FASTAR XI, which has experienced an 81,000 DWT reduction in required propulsion power following the application of FASTAR, resulting in an improved GHG rating from C to B+. Similarly, a 324,000 DWT ore carrier achieved a 5.94% reduction in required propulsion power after being coated with FASTAR XI, supporting an A+ GHG rating.

These outcomes demonstrate that Nippon Paint Marine hull coating solutions provide measurable efficiency gains across various vessel types and operating profiles for shipowners and operators seeking predictable and verifiable results. With the increasing emphasis on emissions performance and sustainability, transparent and reliable data play a crucial role in decisions regarding investments in hull coatings.

Wah Kwong Maritime, a Nippon Paint Marine customer for 20 years, has seen significant benefits from the collaboration. Since adopting Nippon Paint Marine hull coatings, the company's five vessels on the RightShip platform have experienced longer hull efficiency, reduced fuel consumption, and improved their RightShip GHG rating. Wah Kwong Maritime's Marketing Division noted that the advanced FASTAR performance has maintained hull efficiency longer, leading to lower fuel consumption and contributing to meeting decarbonization targets without disrupting their trading schedule.
