UEFA maintains its position against Infantino while Conmebol supports him

The precarious situation of Gianni Infantino, president of FIFA, and the tumultuous reaction to the organization he presides over continues to grow. In statements distributed to some media outlets, UEFA stated that, despite yesterday's communiqué from FIFA - and by extension, the Swiss-Italian - in which they acknowledged the "errors committed" in reference to the privatization proposal to exploit the World Cups, the European football organization remains firm, summarizing that those conversations "change nothing".

To make matters worse, and to go against the positions maintained by UEFA, the North and Central American and Caribbean Football Confederation (Concacaf) and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) - which catalyzed the withdrawal of Infantino's project -, the South American Football Confederation (Conmebol) issued a statement on Thursday, in line with the one issued last Friday, titled 'The football comes first', in which it validates FIFA's apologies and grants its tacit support to Infantino's presidency, talking about "acting with institutional responsibility, strengthening dialogue and fully respecting governance mechanisms".
