Jharkhand govt reaches out to protesting students, stalemate continues

The Jharkhand state government reached out to protesting students at Jaipal Singh Stadium on Wednesday, initiating a dialogue. However, by late evening, students were still uncertain about whether to engage in talks or take an alternative course of action. Students' spokesperson Piyush Kumar Singh revealed that a decision would likely be made by late night.

The state government representatives arrived in the afternoon, inviting the students to join a closed-door meeting. The students debated whether to accept the proposal or not. Later, they organized a Tiranga March and engaged in various activities. Singh stated that they decided not to meet the chief minister on that day and would make a decision later in the evening.

The decision would include the delegation and the meeting location. An official from the district collectorate echoed Singh's statement, mentioning that SDO Kumar Rajat and ADM (law and order) Dhananjay Kumar had visited the students. However, the students declined to send a delegation at that time. Discussions were centered around a public debate and a televised discussion.

The students were still deliberating on a course of action until late evening. Sonam Wangchuk, a prominent figure, expressed solidarity with the agitating students via a video call. Wangchuk urged the students to consume water and salt during their indefinite hunger strike, emphasizing that their purpose was to awaken the government's soul, not commit suicide.

Wangchuk also promised to visit Ranchi in support of the protesting students. The hunger strike continued, with NSUI national president Vinod Jakhar visiting the agitation venue to meet the students.
