Jaylen Brown Asked if He's Spoken to Jayson Tatum Since Trade

Jaylen Brown's 10-year tenure with the Boston Celtics came to an end this offseason when he was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers. Brown and Tatum had won an NBA championship together in 2024 after spending nine seasons on the Celtics. During his press conference with the 76ers, Brown was asked about his relationship with Tatum. He said, "We won a championship together.

Anybody that you win a championship with, you would think, that's what a brotherhood or lifelong legacy would entail." Brown acknowledged that relationships involve ups and downs, but expressed respect for Tatum. When asked if they had spoken since the trade, Brown answered simply, "With Tatum out for much of the 2025-26 season, I've been the clear No. 1 option for the Celtics, averaging a career-high 28.7 points per game."

Now, Brown joins a talented Philadelphia roster that includes LeBron James, Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and VJ Edgecombe. The 76ers are considered strong favorites to win the Eastern Conference this NBA season. Meanwhile, Tatum and the Celtics are entering their first season without Brown since he was drafted with the No. 3 pick in 2016.
