Henry Rollins To Release Coming-of-Age Memoir Bait Dog Boy

Former Black Flag and Rollins Band frontman Henry Rollins is preparing to release his memoir, Bait Dog Boy, which delves into his childhood and early years in the Washington, D.C. punk scene. Scheduled for release on March 2nd, 2027, by Penguin Random House, the 304-page book will be available for pre-order on Amazon. The memoir explores Rollins' tumultuous upbringing, filled with indifferent parents and a series of abusive adults, and his eventual discovery of punk rock as a source of solace.

Rollins describes his writing style as "blunt, brutal, and acerbic," and the book promises to offer an unforgettable look at what it means to feel out of place, even on stage. In the memoir, Rollins shares, "I have no desire to be a survivor. I'd rather accept, absorb, adapt, fight and break that which seeks to break me — to be that which remains."

With a background in writing, Rollins has previously authored several books, including 1994's Get in the Van: On the Road With Black Flag and a compilation of his works titled The Portable Henry Rollins. Recently, Rollins collaborated with Ian MacKaye to uncover a previously unreleased album by The Cramps called Gravest Gravy, produced by Alex Chilton.
