Ghana EXIM Bank’s industrialisation strategy takes shape as Northshore Apparel Hub prepares for launch

Ghana EXIM Bank's industrialisation plan takes a significant stride forward with the impending launch of the Northshore Apparel Hub in Savelugu, slated for commissioning on August 28, 2026. This wholly Ghanaian-owned apparel manufacturing facility, developed by Northshore Apparel Ghana Limited with backing from the Ghana EXIM Bank and other partners, is anticipated to generate 3,000 jobs in its initial phase, and up to 10,000 jobs upon completion.

The project aligns with the Bank's five-year strategy, which prioritises investments in high-potential sectors like rice production, poultry farming, and garment and apparel manufacturing to drive economic growth, create jobs, and enhance export capabilities.

For Ghana EXIM Bank, the project symbolizes more than just the establishment of a manufacturing plant; it represents a cornerstone of its commitment to fostering productive industries, fueling export growth, and generating employment opportunities. Chief Executive Sylvester Adinam Mensah emphasized that the Northshore Apparel Hub embodies Ghana's vision of a self-sufficient economy built on local production and employment generation.

He highlighted that the investment is a concrete manifestation of the Bank's dedication to backing ventures that foster job creation, bolster local industry, and position Ghana as a formidable player in the global manufacturing and export arena.

Northshore Apparel Ghana Limited's CEO, Nurideen Mohammed, lauded the facility as a compelling demonstration of the potential of Ghanaian-owned enterprises to undertake large-scale industrial projects capable of competing on the world stage. The company aims to utilize the hub's production capabilities and strategic location to bolster export growth, skill development, and the establishment of a robust apparel manufacturing ecosystem that caters to both local and international markets.

Mohammed underscored the project's role in cultivating thousands of young Ghanaians through employment and in positioning the Northern Region as an emerging industrial hub, contributing to Ghana's broader industrialisation and 24-hour economy objectives.
