Fujifilm is breaking records – but the memory crisis is hitting so hard, even Instax is affected. Is a price change coming?

Fujifilm has reported record-high revenue in its latest financial report, with a 10.3 percent increase from the same period in 2025. However, despite the strong sales, the company's profit has declined due to rising costs of memory components and silver. The memory crisis, driven by high demand from generative AI data centers, is affecting not just Fujifilm's digital and instant cameras but also Instax cameras.

The company has estimated an additional 14 billion yen ($88.6 million) in costs for 2026, on top of its earlier estimate of 11 billion yen ($69.5 million). Despite these challenges, Fujifilm expects that sales of its Instax line will continue to outperform its digital cameras, and the company is increasing its instant film production to ensure supply.

However, Fujifilm has announced a pause in launching new cameras in its X and GFX series categories in 2026, ahead of its anticipated next-generation release. The company has also mentioned that delivery delays are expected for certain products due to an earthquake in Japan's Kumamoto Prefecture that impacted a plant manufacturing color filters for X-Trans sensors.
