Elon Musk’s attempt at an AI Wikipedia hasn’t been updated in months

Tesla CEO Elon Musk is increasingly positioning the company as an artificial intelligence and robotics firm, even though it still primarily sells cars. According to a study of Tesla's earnings calls from 2019 to 2025, Musk now devotes nearly half of his speaking time to discussing AI, robotaxis, and Full Self-Driving technology. This represents a significant increase from previous years when he spent only 15% to 20% of his time on these topics.

Robotics, particularly Tesla's humanoid robot Optimus, has also seen a sharp rise in focus over the past few years. Musk mentioned the Optimus project in just 2% or less of his remarks in 2021, but that frequency has grown to at least 10% by the end of 2025, occupying nearly a third of his time on the most recent call.

At the same time, Tesla's core automotive business has stagnated, leading Musk to spend less than a third of his earnings call time discussing cars and manufacturing. Other Tesla executives, such as CFO Vaibhav Taneja and VP of Engineering Lars Moravy, have been slower to shift their focus to AI and robotics, with automotive topics still making up a significant portion of their remarks.

However, they are following Musk's lead and expressing enthusiasm for the company's future in these areas, despite these efforts not yet generating substantial returns.
