Dortmund boss gives injury update on trio

Borussia Dortmund's manager recently provided an injury update on three crucial players ahead of their pre-season campaign. Captain Emre Can and defender Nico Schlotterbeck remain out, with neither offering a projected return date. Can has been absent since March following a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), while Schlotterbeck suffered a medial ligament injury to his ankle during the World Cup.

Sporting director Ole Book unveiled that there is currently no set timeline for the players' recuperation. He expressed that even seasoned medical professionals and rehabilitation experts find it challenging to predict recovery durations. Both Can and Schlotterbeck are undergoing hard work in rehab, remain highly motivated, and continue to provide significant leadership within the team.

Book emphasized that nobody, including himself, can accurately determine how much longer their recoveries will take. In contrast, there is more optimism surrounding midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka. He recently bumped his knee during Dortmund's friendly match against FC Tokyo, and Book expressed little concern, stating it didn't seem serious.
