Burger King worker fired over ‘Free Palestine’ remark to Israeli diner raises nearly $100,000 online

A Burger King employee in Pennsylvania was fired after telling an Israeli customer "Free Palestine." The incident occurred when Rami Feinstein, an American musician, ordered food for his family at a Breinigsville location. Employee Ariana Hamilton asked Feinstein where he was from, and after he identified as Israeli, she responded with the phrase. Feinstein felt threatened, received a refund, and left the restaurant. He shared a recording of the exchange and questioned the safety of the restaurant for Jewish customers.

Hamilton presented a different account, stating that the incident was an expression of free speech and not hostility toward Feinstein. She claimed he initially said he was from New Jersey before revealing his Star of David necklace and her subsequent response. Hamilton lost her job over the encounter and has raised nearly $100,000 through a crowdfunding campaign to support herself while searching for new employment.

The campaign has gained significant support on social media, with users praising Hamilton's conduct and posting messages of solidarity with Palestinians. However, others demanded she face consequences for the interaction, while her supporters defended her right to free expression.

Burger King apologized for the experience, emphasizing their zero-tolerance policy for antisemitism, hate, or discrimination. The company stated they are working with the franchisee to address the situation.
