Al-Maliki: Maritime Coalition protects sea lanes and global economy

Maj. Gen. Turki Al-Maliki, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Defense, confirmed that the formation of the Multinational Maritime Defense Coalition highlights a mutual recognition of the gravity of maritime security challenges and the importance of preserving freedom of navigation. He noted that the world presently confronts genuine and evolving threats, emphasizing that each nation possesses the authority to implement military or political actions deemed necessary to safeguard its interests and counter these risks.

The general underscored ongoing cooperation among nations surrounding the Red Sea to bolster the security of maritime routes and safeguard shared objectives. He highlighted Saudi Arabia's contribution, obtained via its role in the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen, which has been instrumental in mitigating maritime dangers, including unmanned aerial vehicles, fast watercraft, and naval mines.

Maj. Gen. Al-Maliki stressed that safeguarding sea lanes and oil tankers is vital for maintaining global economic stability. He stressed that terrorist acts or threats targeting maritime security pose a risk to the entire international community, underscoring the need for heightened international collaboration to address these issues and bolster the security and stability of maritime pathways.
