Adobe's new ChatGPT plugin brings 70 of its tools to OpenAI's chatbot

Adobe has expanded its presence in the AI landscape by launching a new ChatGPT plugin that integrates over 70 of its creative tools into OpenAI's popular chatbot. This development is part of Adobe's ongoing enthusiasm for generative AI, following their integration of Photoshop, Acrobat, and Adobe Express into ChatGPT last year. Once the plugin is added to a user's account, they can access tools such as Photoshop, Premiere, Acrobat, Lightroom, Illustrator, and InDesign, with more than 70 tools available in total.

To use the plugin, users must navigate to the plugins section in ChatGPT's settings menu and select the Adobe option. Upon typing @Adobe followed by a request in ChatGPT's prompt bar, users can leverage the plugin, which works best within OpenAI's Codex coding app and Work suite. While the plugin can be used without logging into an Adobe Creative Cloud account, signing in allows users to save their work across sessions, access saved files in the cloud, and utilize Adobe Firefly's generative models.

Adobe sees the plugin as a tool for editing photos, creating marketing videos, and generating PDFs, though they emphasize the continued availability of their flagship apps for more detailed control. Forest Key, Adobe's vice president of Adobe Firefly and agentic AI, clarified that the plugin is not a replacement for Adobe's core applications but rather a supplementary tool for creative professionals. The plugin became available worldwide starting today, inviting users to explore the integration.
