Xbox Console Updates Adding New Capture and Achievement Features

Microsoft has rolled out a series of updates to its Xbox consoles, introducing new features aimed at enhancing the user experience. These improvements were initially tested by Xbox Insiders in the Alpha Skip-Ahead ring before becoming accessible to all Xbox owners in the coming weeks. Among the most significant additions is the ability to capture party chat audio during gameplay, allowing players to save and revisit memorable gaming moments along with the associated reactions.

The feature provides each party member the option to opt into their audio being captured, which becomes active only after players manually permit it. This update also brings a more organized achievement tracking system, with the cheevo list now sortable by Last Played, Completion Percentage, Gamerscore Earned, Number of Achievements Unlocked, and more.

Players can sort these categories in both ascending and descending orders, making it easier to track progress towards the coveted 1,000 Gamerscore milestone or to identify games with a high number of achievements to unlock.

In addition to these enhancements, the updates introduce cloud save management, enabling players to view and restore previous save versions in supported games. Initially rolled out for Forza Horizon 6, this feature allows users to revert to an older save point if needed, whether due to a corrupted save or a desire to replay specific game sections differently.

Lastly, Xbox has expanded users' game wishlist capacity, allowing them to add up to 1,000 titles, providing ample space for even the most avid gamers. These updates come in the wake of recent Xbox console price increases, which have seen some models in the U.S. and U.K. rise by up to $150 and £220, respectively.
