Udhayanidhi Stalin held for 'sexual remark' linking CM Vijay; freed on bail hours later

Former Tamil Nadu deputy chief minister Udhayanidhi Stalin was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly making a sexually charged remark linking Chief Minister Joseph Vijay with a popular actress. He was later released on bail hours later. The incident occurred during a Cauvery protest in Thanjavur. Udhayanidhi denied the allegations and claimed that no such remark was made.

The arrest was condemned by DMK president M K Stalin, who called it an act of arrogance, and AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami, who criticized the arrest as an attempt to prevent the assembly session from being held without the leader of opposition. Udhayanidhi was released after questioning and took the last flight to Chennai.
