TN fin min Wilson praises CM Vijay as 'true Jananayagan'

Finance Minister N Marie Wilson of Tamil Nadu commended Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay as a true democrat during the presentation of the state's maiden budget. She described his rise to public life as driven by gratitude towards the people who supported him. Vijay, she noted, overcame conspiracies to secure a historic victory, for which he now sits in the assembly as a "true Jananayagan," a term derived from his last film, "People's Leader."

The minister quoted from the Tamil classic Thirukkural before submitting the budget estimates in the House. Referring to the upcoming 2026 Assembly polls, Wilson emphasized that the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam's victory represents the triumph of all Tamil Nadu's people. She hailed Vijay as a genuine democrat, praising his ability to navigate numerous conspiracies and win the people's favor.

The speaker also paid respects to TVK's ideological icons, including Periyar EV Ramasamy, former CM K Kamaraj, Dr BR Ambedkar, freedom struggle stalwarts Rani Velu Nachiyar and Anjalai Ammal, as well as late CMs CN Annadurai and MG Ramachandran, whom she described as people-centric leaders. Among the initiatives unveiled, Wilson highlighted the increase in free electricity for consumers, a loan waiver for farmers through co-operative societies, a special package for Kuruvai cultivation, the "Singapenn Special Task Force" for women's safety, the creation of Anti-Narcotics Task Force Units at the district level, and the closure of 717 state-run liquor retail outlets near sensitive locations.

The implementation of these schemes, she added, has strengthened people's trust in the TVK government.
