Key checks include tyre pressure, which should be diligently inspected for both regular and spare tyres, as under-inflated tyres can result in overheating and blowouts on hot desert roads. The tread condition should also be examined, and the spare tyre's function and limitations should be understood. Fluid levels are another critical aspect; this includes engine oil, coolant, brake fluid, and power steering fluid, all of which should be at optimal levels and clean.

Given the extreme climate in the UAE, it is vital to change the engine oil and filter regularly. Additionally, checking the battery for cleanliness and corrosion, especially if it is more than three years old, is crucial, as heat can significantly impact battery life. All lights, including headlights, tail lights, indicators, and brake lights, should be tested, along with brake pads for wear, and wipers for effective clearing of the windscreen.
