Despite trading for pitching ace Tarik Skubal, the Dodgers suffered a five-game losing streak, culminating in a 5-1 defeat to the Chicago Cubs. Betts has struggled at the plate during this run, going just 1-for-16 with no walks and an OPS of .670 for the season.

He expressed his uncertainty regarding his performance, saying, "It’s a long season. Just a rut. It’s okay. Everything’s okay. I just know I need to be better." Betts admitted he couldn't pinpoint the reason for his struggles, adding that he felt he was making solid contact with the ball but had difficulty translating it into hits.

The Dodgers, once considered one of the best teams in MLB, have faced strong opponents recently, including a sweeping loss to the Boston Red Sox.
