Kasaragod native arrested for assaulting woman Sub Inspector in Kozhikode

On August 2, Adith Joseph, a 29-year-old native of Kasaragod, was apprehended by the Kozhikode City police. He had been residing in Nellikode, Kozhikode, and was accused of assaulting woman Sub-Inspector N. Leela, who was on duty with her team.

According to police reports, Ms. Leela and her team were patrolling when they noticed the accused smoking near the parking area. When she approached him to speak, he leaned in too close and threatened to handle the situation legally. When ordered to step back, Joseph grabbed the Sub-Inspector's hand and twisted it, causing significant injury.

Sub-Inspector Leela reported the incident, leading to the registration of cases against Joseph under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The accused, who had previously worked as an accountant in Kozhikode and is now unemployed, also has prior cases registered against him for public nuisance and assault.

Following his arrest, Joseph appeared before the Judicial First Class Magistrate Court-IV and was remanded into custody.
