India rejects Pakistan's ‘Youm-e-Istehsal’ on Article 370 abrogation anniversary, calls it ‘political absurdity’

On the anniversary of India's decision to revoke Article 370, which granted special status to Jammu and Kashmir, the Indian government has firmly rejected Pakistan's attempt to rebrand the day as "Youm-e-Istehsal" (Day of Exploitation). External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal dismissed the Pakistani move as a "political absurdity" and accused Islamabad of trying to deflect global attention from its own dismal human rights record and terrorism issues.

Jaiswal emphasized that the constitutional changes made in August 2019 were solely an internal matter of India and have led to unprecedented socio-economic development and democratic empowerment in the region. He reiterated that the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh remain an integral and inalienable part of India.

Jaiswal also pointed to the brutal suppression of peaceful protests by Pakistani security forces in PoJK, where at least 90 people have been killed since June. He urged Pakistan to stop the violence, take action against terror networks operating from its soil, and vacate all Indian territories under its occupation.
