I’m not campaigning for 2028 — Asiedu Nketia says thank you tour was to ‘quench fires’ in NDC

NDC National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia has clarified that his recent nationwide thank-you tour was not aimed at campaigning for the 2028 presidential election. The tour was instead intended to address internal issues within the party, particularly simmering tensions over appointments, recruitment slots, and other concerns. Speaking on JoyNews, Mr. Asiedu Nketiah dismissed critics who suggested his mission was self-promotional, stating that he was unaware of any elections being held and that his primary duty as national chairman is to govern the party and ensure its members support the government.

He described his role as one of governing and rein-in members to support the government's performance, rather than directly running a ministry. The NDC chairman further revealed that the tour aimed to quell discontent among party members, with some even threatening demonstrations against the government. He emphasized that his purpose was to advise and explain the reasons behind certain expectations not being met, offering patience and alternative solutions.

Mr. Asiedu Nketiah reiterated his commitment to continuing his outreach to party members, irrespective of the criticisms, highlighting that failing to fulfill this responsibility would be his first regret.
