‘Gilmore Girls’ Documentary Set at HBO Max With Lauren Graham, Never-Before-Seen Footage and More

Fans of the beloved series Gilmore Girls can look forward to a major movie night on HBO Max. The streamer has announced that they are producing an authorized documentary about the iconic WB/CW show, marking the first of its kind. The documentary will feature Lauren Graham, who played Lorelai Gilmore, series creator Amy Sherman-Palladino, and executive producer Daniel Palladino.

Other cast and crew members are yet to be revealed. The film promises a rare, insider perspective into the creation of Gilmore Girls, straight from the creators and key members of the cast and crew. It includes never-before-seen outtakes, behind-the-scenes footage, and script pages. Directed by Bonni Cohen, the documentary is set to be released without a specific timetable announced yet.

Gilmore Girls first premiered in October 2000 on The WB, exploring the close relationship between Lorelai and her daughter Rory, set in the small town of Stars Hollow. The show ran for seven seasons, with a Netflix continuation released in 2016. Rumors of another documentary, 'Searching For Stars Hollow,' have surfaced but it has yet to be released.

Lauren Graham, known for her commitment to projects that include Amy Sherman-Palladino, has declined participation in this film. The documentary will also see Graham and Sherman-Palladino collaborate on a nonfiction book reflecting on the success of Gilmore Girls and their time together on the show.
