Class 12 girl held captive, blackmailed, raped by Instagram friend for 24 hours in Nagpur

On Tuesday morning, authorities in Nagpur apprehended a 20-year-old individual from Mumbai, currently residing in Thane, for a horrific crime. The accused, Nirmay Madhav Pakhare, allegedly held a Class 12 girl captive for 24 hours, sexually assaulting her and repeatedly stabbing her with a knife. Pakhare befriended the victim on Instagram in May of the previous year, posing as a person named Akash Mehra.

When the girl did not return home for nearly two days, her parents reported her missing to the police. Upon their arrival at the suspect's flat in Dighori, they discovered the survivor, bound and with injuries indicating severe trauma. The 20-year-old was subsequently arrested and transferred to Hudkeshwar police station. Police allege that Pakhare coerced the girl into continuing their sexual relationship, threatening to expose her photos online if she refused.

He had previously visited her at a rented flat in Dighori on one occasion prior to the latest incident. The rescue operation was initiated after the girl's father lodged a kidnapping complaint with the Hudkeshwar police station when she failed to return home after 20 hours. During the investigation, police analyzed the girl's Instagram conversations and other digital traces, leading them to Pakhare's Thane residence.

His mother was then contacted, and after answering their call, Pakhare was located in the Dighori area. Senior Inspector Anamika Mirzapure stated that Pakhare has been remanded for two days to allow for further questioning. The accused's parents, both doctors, arrived in Nagpur on Tuesday following news of the allegations. Police are investigating whether Pakhare had previously engaged in similar offenses and are examining his Instagram account, mobile devices, and other digital evidence.
