Air defense missile deliveries have fallen threefold since 2025 – Zelenskyy

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned on August 5 that deliveries of anti-ballistic air defense missiles from allies have plummeted by three times since 2025. He pleaded with partners to expedite supplies and enhance production, particularly for the first half of 2026. Zelenskyy emphasized that the availability of these missiles, whether locally produced in Ukraine or from allies, could substantially bolster both national and global protection.

The president detailed a meeting where he received updates on the battlefield situation and necessary military supplies from Ukraine's Commander-in-Chief Mykhailo Drapatyi, Chief of the General Staff Ihor Skybiuk, and acting Defense Minister Yevhen Khmara. The focus was heavily on Kostiantynivka and Sloviansk. Khmara highlighted the urgent demand for drone supplies and funding, as well as the critical objectives of units in Donetsk Oblast and other sectors of the front.

Zelenskyy also met with Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi, who plans to introduce measures to bolster business activity and logistics in Ukraine. The talks also addressed the long-term impact of sanctions against Russia, with a focus on operations against Russian oil facilities and refining infrastructure. Russia launched a missile attack on Ukraine on August 5, involving four Zircon/Onyx anti-ship missiles and 24 Iskander-M/S-400 ballistic missiles.

Despite no intercepts, Zelenskyy stated that 17 individuals were killed in Kyiv and its surroundings, with 44 more injured. The attacks primarily targeted civilian warehouses, infrastructure, and a railway station. Zelenskyy stressed that ballistic missile interceptors could have prevented these tragic losses, urging allies to prioritize supplying these critical defenses promptly.
