73 primary schools to hold ballot for Phase 2C of P1 registration

Singapore's Ministry of Education (MOE) has announced that 73 primary schools will hold balloting for Phase 2C of the Primary 1 registration process. This is the last stage of the 2026 Primary 1 registration exercise. Out of these 73 schools, 72 are oversubscribed, while only Opera Estate Primary School, which is not oversubscribed, will conduct a ballot for permanent resident (PR) applicants residing outside a 2km radius of the school.

There are 79 schools in total that are oversubscribed this year, with 55.3% of all schools not conducting balloting in Phase 2C. These schools are open to children without prior links to the school. Opera Estate Primary School's cap on PR intake is due to its limited spots for PR applicants.

MOE has reserved 60 places for Phases 2B and 2C to maintain accessibility for as many children as possible. One-third of these spots will go to Phase 2B applicants, and two-thirds to Phase 2C applicants. Should there be remaining vacancies from earlier phases, one-third of these spots will be allocated to Phase 2B, and two-thirds to Phase 2C.

In summary, 73 primary schools will hold a ballot for Phase 2C registration, with Opera Estate Primary School being the sole exception for PR applicants outside a 2km radius. The registration process for Phase 2C Supplementary will open on August 17 and close on August 18, with results to be announced on August 27.
