6 students arrested, Obuasi SecTech closed following mob attack on headmaster

The Obuasi Secondary Technical School has been indefinitely closed by the Obuasi Municipal Assembly due to a violent incident involving students allegedly attacking the school's headmaster. The Assembly's decision came after tensions on campus escalated into physical violence, prompting security agencies to intervene and restore order.

Reports indicate that the conflict arose from students accusing the headmaster of burying a fetus in a nearby bush, which they linked to allegations of an abortion involving a student. As a result of the unrest, six students were arrested by the police to assist with the ongoing investigation. These students are reported to have destroyed three bungalows, vehicles, and other valuable property during the altercation.

The Municipal Assembly has placed the school closure on hold as a precautionary measure to safeguard the well-being of students, faculty, and staff, and to avoid any additional disturbances on the premises. The current health status of the headmaster remains undisclosed, although he reportedly sought medical attention at the Komfo Anokye Teaching hospital after the assault.
