Rajya Sabha clears birth, death regn bill without any discussion

Rajya Sabha passed the Registration of Births and Deaths (Amendment) Bill without discussion, as opposition disrupted proceedings over NEET-UG paper leak and Ram temple donation theft issues. The bill, also passed by Lok Sabha, aims to strengthen regulations for birth and death registrations, and require approval from a judicial magistrate for cases reported over two years old.

Home Minister Nityanand Rai referred to the bill as a move to rid the country of "ghosts" and ensure only eligible individuals are registered. The passage of the bill comes amidst a virtual washout in the monsoon session, with both Houses repeatedly adjourned except for discussions on bills addressing paper leak cases and Ram temple donation theft.
