Quentin Coleman building chemistry with teammates early on

Illinois basketball's highly-anticipated freshman guard Quentin Coleman is quickly becoming an integral part of the team. The five-star recruit from St. Louis spent the summer representing the U.S. at the 2026 FIBA U18 AmeriCup in Mexico. Upon his return to Champaign in June, Coleman was welcomed by the returning players, finding the transition smooth and beneficial for his growth.

Throughout June and July, Coleman's primary focus has been to learn about his fellow teammates' abilities, including those of Andrej, David, and Stefan. He emphasizes the importance of understanding the team's dynamics both on and off the court, and he has already formed a strong off-court bond with teammate David Mirkovic. This connection extends to the weight room, where Coleman and his teammates exchange more than just physical training – they build a camaraderie that translates onto the court.

As a result of the chemistry Coleman is developing with his teammates, he's gaining confidence and strength. He's already gained 11 pounds since the summer, moving from 180 to 191 pounds. With this newfound chemistry, Coleman is optimistic about the upcoming season, hopeful that the strong connections he's built will translate to success on the court.
