Palestinians mourn 112 people retrieved from rubble in Gaza

Palestinians in Gaza held a massive funeral on Tuesday for 112 individuals found buried under the wreckage of their homes during Israel's ongoing conflict. The event, held in Gaza City's Sabra neighborhood, saw thousands of mourners attending as the victims' bodies were draped in Palestinian flags and positioned near the remains of their destroyed dwellings.

The deceased were members of two families, the Al-Hasayneh and Abu Sharia, who perished when the Israeli military bombarded their residences while they were inside on November 23, 2023. Their remains were recovered by civil defense teams on Saturday. The victims comprised 40 children, 38 women, and seven individuals with disabilities.

Tragically, 157 bodies remain unaccounted for beneath the rubble. Civil Defense official Mohammad Abu Dan stated that despite Israel and Gaza agreeing to a ceasefire since October 10, 2025, the Israeli forces continue their attacks in Gaza, resulting in the deaths of over 73,000 Palestinians and injuries to more than 174,000 others.

The health ministry in Gaza estimates that approximately 9,500 people still lie trapped beneath the debris of Israeli-destroyed buildings.
