Gaza mass funeral for 112 Palestinians, including children, recovered from 2023 strike

In Gaza City, a massive funeral took place for 112 Palestinians, including women and children, who were discovered three years after an Israeli strike in the Sabra neighborhood. The remains of the Abu Sharia and Al-Husayneh families were laid to rest, marking one of the largest mass funerals since the war's onset. Rescue workers spent 17 days amid rubble and debris, extracting the remains through concrete and twisted metal with limited machinery.

Over 8,000 bodies remain trapped beneath the ruins across Gaza. Two excavators were provided by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to aid in the recovery efforts. The victims were described by relatives as families, comprising children, women, and the elderly. The funeral came as the region continues to grapple with the aftermath of the prolonged conflict, with over 73,000 Palestinians killed since Israel's military campaign began in October.
