Ohio Rep. Max Miller requests US House probe into domestic abuse allegations made against him

Ohio Representative-elect Max Miller, a Republican from the state, announced on Tuesday that he intends to initiate a House investigation into domestic abuse allegations filed against him by his ex-wife. The allegations were brought forward by Emily Moreno, who is also the daughter of Ohio's Republican Senator Bernie Moreno. Miller, who previously served as a senior White House adviser during the Trump administration, is seeking to retain his position in the upcoming congressional election.

Miller made the announcement regarding the investigation on social media platform X, stating his intention to "clear my name" and asserting that he has "nothing to hide." House Democrats have also called for an investigation into the allegations.

Trump, in a conversation with Miller on Monday, reportedly expressed concerns about Miller's candidacy, according to a source who was granted anonymity to discuss a private conversation. This conversation was first reported by Axios. Miller currently has until Wednesday to decide whether to withdraw from his reelection campaign.

Sen. Moreno, who had previously remained silent on the allegations, made her stance known on Sunday, saying that Miller does not meet the "basic standards of character required to hold elected office." Despite this, Miller has stated that he will continue to run in the highly competitive House district seat, which encompasses both affluent suburbs of Cleveland and rural areas to the southwest.

He had previously made his decision public through a livestream video on X, where he defended himself and shared documents related to his divorce and custody cases.
