N. Korea warns of 'additional military options' over Japan's expanding defense buildup

SEOUL, August 5 - North Korea has warned it could consider additional military options to respond to Japan's aggressive push for rearmament, accusing the United States of enabling Tokyo's transformation into a war criminal state, according to state media. Kim Yo-jong, sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, made the comments in a statement, citing Japan's recent actions, including the test-firing of Tomahawk long-range cruise missiles and participation in U.S.-led military drills in the Philippines, as proof of the country's military expansion.

North Korea's sister claims Japan's actions are becoming increasingly dangerous as the world's geopolitical landscape grows more volatile, and that the recent moves are a step towards the actual act of preemptive attacks. Kim accused the U.S. of using Japan and South Korea as a shock brigade to encroach upon the security interests of other nations in the Asia-Pacific region.

She promised that if authorized, the DPRK's armed forces and military leadership would take further military actions due to Japan's transformation.
