Man Utd's George closing in on Brighton move

Manchester United's defender Gabby George is reportedly nearing a move to Brighton & Hove Albion before the Women's Super League season commences. The 29-year-old has a year left on her contract, after United utilized an option clause in January. Brighton is anticipated to pay a six-figure fee for the versatile player, who arrived at Old Trafford in 2023.

George is reportedly seeking regular playing time, and her addition would bolster Brighton's squad ambitions. Over her three-year tenure at United, she has amassed more than 50 appearances and was part of the squad that won the Women's FA Cup in 2024. George, who grew up in Everton's academy, has played over 100 games for them prior to her transfer to Manchester.

She has earned three caps for England and can provide valuable experience to Brighton, who have bolstered their squad with additional talent this summer. Brighton concluded the previous WSL season in seventh place and commence their 2025 campaign hosting Arsenal on Sunday, September 6th at 12:00 BST. United announced on Monday that manager Marc Skinner had left his position by mutual consent, and they are currently in the process of identifying potential replacements.
