Man Utd set to appoint ex-Hearts boss Olid as women's manager

Manchester United is expected to appoint former Hearts boss Eva Olid as their new women's manager, according to BBC Sport. The 40-year-old Spaniard will reportedly meet the United squad on Wednesday as the club finalizes her appointment after Marc Skinner left the role by mutual consent on Monday. Olid took charge at Hearts this summer, leading the Scottish Women's Premier League club to their first league title last season.

She joined Hearts in 2021, signing an extension until 2026 with an option for an additional year, but the club announced in April that she would leave at the end of the season by mutual agreement. Under Olid's guidance, Hearts finished fourth in two consecutive seasons before dropping to fifth in 2024-25. However, they secured their first silverware last term by winning by two points over Rangers.

Despite her success at Hearts, United seems to have lost faith in their women's team. Skinner, who led United to their first major trophy with a Women's FA Cup win in 2024, departed after five years. The club has adopted a more youthful recruitment strategy this season, focusing on developing younger players for long-term success. United's first WSL match will be against London City Lionesses on September 4th.
