Mahama urges African youth to lead continent’s next chapter through innovation and integrity

President John Dramani Mahama has called upon African youth, both on the continent and in the African diaspora, to take charge of the future by embracing innovation, integrity, and purposeful leadership. Addressing a gathering in Jamaica, the Ghanaian president emphasized that the youth represent the generation that will shape the next chapter in Africa's collective history.

Mahama noted that while young Africans are inheriting the courage and resilience of their forebears, they also have unprecedented opportunities at their disposal.

He urged the youth of Jamaica, Ghana, Africa, and the global African diaspora to dream boldly, lead with integrity, and innovate purposefully. Mahama highlighted that advancements in technology, expanded access to knowledge, and the rise of innovation have opened new avenues for young Africans to make significant contributions to development. He encouraged them to become solution-builders by establishing enterprises, utilizing technology to tackle societal challenges, and collaborating across national and cultural divides.

The president stressed that young people should recognize their potential to drive change at both national and global levels. Mahama argued that leaders' role is to foster an environment where young people's aspirations can flourish through quality education, equal opportunities, democratic governance, innovation, and shared prosperity. He concluded by saying, "If we succeed, the descendants of Africa will not merely have participated in shaping our future, they will have participated in leading it."
