Lagos diverts traffic for road reconstruction at Anthony village

The Lagos State Government has announced a traffic diversion plan to manage the construction works at Anthony Village Bus Stop. Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, disclosed the development on X, stating that excavation works have started as part of efforts to address the recurring damage caused by heavy rainfall on the affected road section.

Osiyemi explained that the affected portion of the road will be reconstructed using interlocking stones to enhance its durability. The Lagos State Ministry of Transportation has requested the motoring public to be aware of the ongoing excavation works at the Anthony Village Bus Stop to ensure the project's smooth execution.

To facilitate safe construction, the government has introduced a temporary traffic management plan for motorists utilizing the corridor. Motorists traveling from Fadeyi, planning to access the Apapa-Oshodi Expressway via Anthony Village, will be unable to use the route during the project. Those intending to use the Anthony Village Bus Stop service lane to connect to Oshodi are advised to avoid the route and continue on the expressway before making further connections.

Similarly, motorists intending to access Anthony–Ikorodu Road through Anthony Village should be informed that there is currently no through road at the project site. The ministry recommends that road users plan their journeys in advance, avoid the affected bus stop and service lane if possible, and utilize alternative routes to minimize delays.

The Lagos State Government expressed its appreciation for the understanding and cooperation of all road users throughout the reconstruction period.
