Artificial intelligence: AI data company Palantir with more than 90 percent sales increase

Palantir Technologies, a data analysis firm specializing in the evaluation of large datasets and providing software for intelligence and military information analysis, reported a staggering 93% increase in revenue year-over-year in their most recent quarter. The company's stock price surged by around 14% in after-hours trading, surpassing expectations of analysts who had projected a more modest 1.8 billion dollar revenue figure. Within just three months, Palantir's revenue grew by nearly a fifth.

Specializing in the utilization of big data, Palantir offers software that enables intelligence agencies and military forces to analyze critical information. Company CEO Alex Karp has leveraged this recent business momentum to position Palantir as a counterbalance to leading AI developers, such as OpenAI and Anthropic. Karp emphasizes Palantir's role as a crucial intermediary, allowing clients to maintain full control over their data and switch between AI service providers if necessary.

Although AI laboratories consistently deny using customer data for training their AI models, Karp acknowledged in a video conference with analysts that businesses pay Palantir for the privilege of integrating their knowledge into AI models, thereby creating a competing business. The company's shares saw significant gains following their earnings report, with analysts projecting a 1.94 billion dollar revenue for the year, well above the initial estimate of 1.8 billion dollars.

The growth in Palantir's revenue is primarily driven by the U.S. market, with domestic sales more than doubling to 1.57 billion dollars compared to the previous year. Government agencies contributed significantly to this increase, with software from Palantir used by the Department of Homeland Security and the Pentagon, including during the war in Iran.

Palantir's software also saw a 149% increase in sales from U.S. companies, reaching 764 million dollars.
