Jesse Eisenberg witnesses Russian attack on Lviv during Ukraine visit

Hollywood actor Jesse Eisenberg, who was in Ukraine for a volunteer mission, observed Russia's assault on Lviv and took refuge during an overnight air raid warning, per a TSN report dated July 30. The siren signaled the beginning of the raid, prompting Eisenberg and others to seek shelter. Upon waking the next morning, the actor witnessed the devastating aftermath of the attack.

He compared the scene to the bombings he had experienced in his own city, stating that it broke his heart. Eisenberg visited Ukraine alongside his wife, Anna, as part of the Campfire Project, a charitable organization that organizes therapeutic arts programs. They collaborated with the Polish-Ukrainian group Folkowisko to organize a camp for Ukrainian children.

Over the course of a week, Eisenberg and a team of artists, art therapists, and psychologists assisted over 70 children affected by the war. The camp's activities encompassed dance, visual arts, theater workshops, and psychological counseling. To participate in the performances, Eisenberg spent a year learning the Cyrillic alphabet to read his lines in Ukrainian.

Eisenberg and his wife recently became Polish citizens. The actor has mentioned that members of his family were saved during World War II in Lviv, and he feels a sense of responsibility to contribute positively to the lives of those enduring war.
