Formula E changes 2027 Monaco date to avoid WEC clash

Formula E has shifted the 2027 Monaco E-Prix by two weeks to circumvent a clash with the World Endurance Championship. The races will now occur on 1 and 2 May, a week prior to the planned double header in Berlin. Originally, the Monaco calendar had been set for 15 and 16 May, simultaneously with the WEC at Spa-Francorchamps. This scheduling conflict would have posed challenges for drivers competing in both championships, especially as Spa typically serves as the prelude to Le Mans 24 Hours.

The revised calendar maintains Monaco and Berlin's consecutive weekends, but the Shanghai E-Prix on July 10-11 remains on a conflicting weekend with the WEC's Sao Paulo round. Despite the resolution of the Monaco/Spa clash, drivers still face a demanding sequence of three race weekends across Monaco, Berlin, and Spa in 2027. Formula E and the WEC's schedules will overlap once more in 2027, during the Shanghai E-Prix and the WEC's Sao Paulo round.

Formula E has also extended its contract with the Automobile Club de Monaco, confirming the championship's presence in the principality until at least 2031.
