Digital-Währungen: Jeder achte Erwachsene in Deutschland hält Kryptowährungen

A recent survey conducted by the opinion research firm YouGov for BearingPoint reveals that 12.8 percent of Germany's adult population, aged 18 and above, currently owns digital currencies. This translates to approximately nine million individuals. Of these, 4.9 percent have previously owned Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies but have since exited the market. Furthermore, there is a potential for 11.4 percent (7.9 million people) to consider purchasing digital currencies in the future.

However, the majority of adult Germans view digital assets with skepticism, with 67.4 percent owning no cryptocurrencies and categorically dismissing them for the future. The gender and age differences are stark. While 18.8 percent of men hold digital coins in their portfolios, only 7.2 percent of women do. Among the 25-34 age group, nearly a third (28.4 percent) possess cryptocurrencies, while the investment class barely exists for those aged 55 and above.

Bitcoin remains the dominant cryptocurrency among active investors in Germany, with 74.6 percent holding Bitcoin. Ethereum comes in second place with 33.1 percent, and Solana follows with 22.7 percent. Other cryptocurrencies such as XRP, Cardano, and Dogecoin also have significant representation, each with double-digit percentages.

Overall, there is a clear risk awareness in the general population, with nearly a third of respondents viewing cryptocurrencies primarily as high-speculative products.
