Athletes go 'missing' after Commonwealth Games ends

One of the boxers, Qudratullah, has reportedly not joined his teammates on the flight home and has not been found in his residence.

Another athlete from Pakistan claimed that the four missing Ugandan boxers intended to seek asylum in Scotland, hoping for better training facilities and opportunities abroad. Earlier instances of athletes disappearing after major sporting events, including the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, have raised concerns about the security measures and asylum policies in place.

Police Scotland and event organizers are conducting investigations and seeking assistance from the Home Office to handle these situations. The Glasgow 2026 Games wrapped up after 11 days of competition, with organizers praising the streamlined format for successfully concluding the event.
