Arsenal in talks to sign Newcastle's Guimaraes

Arsenal are engaged in formal discussions with Newcastle United to sign their captain, Bruno Guimaraes. The Brazilian midfielder, 28, is reportedly keen on a move to the Premier League champions. Although the outcome of the transfer negotiations remains uncertain, those involved in the talks believe progress is being made.

It was previously reported that Arsenal had offered £70m for Guimaraes through intermediaries last month, and the club is expected to return with a higher bid. However, Newcastle has reportedly rejected this initial offer, with no specific amount disclosed by either party.

Arsenal's ambition and desire to strengthen their squad after winning the Premier League last season has led them to prioritize Guimaraes' transfer.
