Zelensky dismisses Ukraine’s ambassador to the US in presidential decree

Reports indicate that Stefanishyna notified the president of her intention to leave last month, with references to ongoing investigations into alleged irregularities in her asset declaration.

Stefanishyna, who served as deputy prime minister and justice minister, was appointed ambassador to the US in July of the previous year. This role is pivotal for Ukraine, which relies on US arms deliveries and intelligence-sharing in its conflict against Russia. Relations between Zelensky and US counterpart Donald Trump have been tumultuous at times, but the billionaire Republican has recently shown more support for the Ukrainian leader.
