USC ADJennifer Cohen issues statement on Notre Dame rivalry

On Monday, USC announced that it will resume its longstanding football rivalry with Notre Dame, beginning in the 2030 season. After a four-year break, the Irish will play the Trojans at the Coliseum in Week 1 of the 2030 season, while the Trojans will travel to South Bend the following year. USC Athletic Director Jennifer Cohen released a statement expressing the team's excitement for the return of this historic rivalry.

Cohen emphasized that the resumption of the USC-Notre Dame series holds special significance for the Trojans, stating, "USC's historic rivalry with Notre Dame holds a special place in the history of college football, and we are happy to resume a series that means so much to the entire Trojan Family." She added that scheduling the game early in the season allows the team to compete against its Big Ten peers and considers the health and welfare of its student-athletes.

Notre Dame will make its first return to the Coliseum since 2024 for the 2030 matchup, which would mark the Trojans' first victory over the Irish since 2022 if no postseason games occur between now and then. The Trojans' nonconference schedule for the 2026 season, without a Notre Dame game, includes matches against San Jose State, Fresno State, and Nevada.
